Matt Modderno

First and foremost, I am a diehard Washington Wizards fan. I have a journalism degree from the University of Maryland, where I hosted my own weekly sports talk radio show on WMUC Sports for four years. The show focused primarily on Maryland basketball and the Wizards and featured well-known local guests like Scott Van Pelt, Kevin Sheehan, Johnny Holiday and Amber Theoharis. In college, I conducted interviews with NBA prospects and trainers for DraftExpress.com, which now handles NBA Draft coverage and content for ESPN. I also covered the NCAA's Horizon League for hoopville.com. During my senior year, I interned for, and handled a lot of the pre-show preparation of, The John Thompson Show on ESPN980. I also handled the pre-show preparation and production for Playmakers, a local sports show on the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN). After college, I took a job as a research and development project manager for the Federal Aviation Administration. If it weren’t for Wizards XTRA and some work I do for sircharlesincharge.com, my writing would be limited to technical documents these days. Don’t tell my boss but this is way more fun!
